Car Title Steps

Methodology

Not a government website. Not legal advice.

How we check sources

Car Title Steps only publishes forms, fees and rules that come from official state sources. Every detail shows the page it came from and the date we checked it. If we could not confirm a detail, we say so instead of guessing.

Sources
Official .gov and state agency pages only
Every fact
A source link and a last-checked date
Re-checks
Every 45 days, and any time someone reports an error

Where our facts come from

We use the state's own pages: the motor vehicle agency, the state tax agency, state law and court sites. We do not use other guide sites, forums or paid services as sources. When two official pages disagree, we show the one closest to the task and mark the difference for review.

What counts as confirmed

A fact is marked confirmed only when we can point to the exact line on the official page. We save a copy of each page we use. Facts we could not match that way are labeled "Being checked". Facts we could not find are labeled "Not confirmed yet". A fee with either label never shows an amount.

How often we check

We re-check each state's sources every 45 days. Every change goes live only after a person approves it. The date next to each fact shows when we last confirmed it.

How errors are reported and fixed

Each page has a "Report an error" link. Send the page link and the official page that shows the right answer, if you have it. We check the report against the state source. If we got it wrong, we fix the page and update the date. We aim to reply within 5 business days.

What this site does not do

We don't file or prepare forms, and we don't give legal or tax advice. No government agency runs or approves this site. The guides are free to read, and we don't sell title services.
