Transferring a car title after the owner dies in Alaska
For a spouse, child, heir or executor dealing with a car that was owned by someone who died in Alaska.
To transfer a car title after the owner dies in Alaska, a surviving owner on an "OR" title simply signs the title. For a small estate, the successor fills out Form 827 at least thirty days after the death and has it notarized. Otherwise the court appointed representative signs.
If the estate is going through probate, or family members disagree, talk to the probate court or a lawyer before you sign anything.
