Transferring a car title after the owner dies in Nevada

For a spouse, child, heir or executor dealing with a car that was owned by someone who died in Nevada.

To transfer a car title after the owner dies in Nevada with no trust or probate, heirs of a small estate can use form VP 024. It can be used once enough time has passed since the death, and a notary or DMV representative witnesses it. If the owner named a transfer on death beneficiary, the car passes to them.

If the estate is going through probate, or family members disagree, talk to the probate court or a lawyer before you sign anything.
